CSEA/SCÉA – AGO 2016 Summer Institute for Educators

Join us this summer as CSEA/SCÉA partners with the AGO for an intensive, four day National Summer Institute for Educators at the Art Gallery of Ontario focusing on “Exploring the role of the gallery in Art Education practice. The institute will focus on issues that are relevant to art educators across Canada in the fields of elementary, secondary, post-secondary, museum/gallery and community art education. The program will include inspiring guest speakers from the art community (i.e.curators,artists,educators) reflecting on the current opportunities and challenges for the field of contemporary Art Education and their connection to museums and galleries today.

Our Mandate

The CSEA/SCÉA mandate

We are dedicated to the visual arts as essential to student learning in schools, colleges, universities, community settings and other venues, because art education is the conduit to holistic human growth and development, both affective and cognitive. The visual arts are implicit in and expressive of culture. Engagement in and with the visual arts has the power to transform who we are individually and collectively.

Nous considérons les arts visuels comme indispensables à l’apprentissage des étudiants, que ce soit dans un contexte scolaire, collégial, universitaire, communautaire ou tout autre, car l’éducation artistique est étroitement liée à la croissance holistique et au développement de l’être humain sur les plans affectif et cognitif. Les arts visuels constituent le fondement de la culture et en sont l’expression. L’implication et l’engagement envers les arts visuels sont des sources de transformation personnelle et collective.
