EMERGENCE 2022
Reshaping the Future
of the World through Art
Hosted by
the Canadian Society for Education through Art and
the Ontario Art Education Association
Ottawa, Ontario
October 14th – 16th, 2022
Conference Theme: Emergence occurs when divergent, multiple, and at times contrasting elements interact and come into relation within a larger system. We turn to art so that we can open spaces for radical and transformative collaboration. We invite everyone to re-imagine how the world can be reshaped by visual art for the future and to address emergent art education themes including decolonization, gender, social activism, accessibility, environmentalism, wellness, creative process, play, intersectionality, and embodiment.
CALL FOR PROPOSALS:
We are pleased to announce that proposals are now being accepted!
CSEA/SCÉA and OAEA/AOÉA Emergence 2022 will bring together elementary, intermediate, secondary, post-secondary, gallery/museum, and community art educators. Through research presentations, panel discussions, and best practices/hands-on workshops, presenters will address themes in the context of the classroom, studio, and community education. Virtual and in-person sessions will be scheduled in 30/60/90 minute modules to accommodate various types of presentations. Additional opportunities are available through the Graduate Student Symposium, a series on Performance, Play, and Practice, and a collaborative art exhibit titled A/R/T Emergence.
All applications will be peer-reviewed based on these criteria:
• Quality of research and/or best practice strategies
• Relevance to the theme(s)
• Quality of concept development
