CSEA/SCÉA Awards
Canadian Art Educator of the Year Awards
Canadian Art Educator of the Year Awards recognizes art educators who have made significant contributions to the field of art education in Canada. Nominees should demonstrate that they are building capacity within their students to consider all world views in arts education, including those of women, Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, and those with diverse abilities and intersectional perspectives. Six national awards are presented at each CSEA/SCÉA conference.
Thank you for submitting your nominations for the 2024 awards. Awards were presented on June 29, 2024 at the CSEA/SCÉA conference, held in Kjipuktuk, Mi’kma’ki (Halifax, Nova Scotia). The following nomination forms and rubrics are for reference only.

Provincial/Territorial Affiliate Art Educator Awards
The Canadian Society for Education through Art / Société canadienne d’éducation par l’art (CSEA/SCÉA) aims to promote excellence in art education, and therefore, presents awards to art educators who achieve excellence in art education.
An art educator from each Canadian province can be presented with a CSEA/SCÉA Provincial/Territorial Affiliate Award acknowledging excellence in art teaching or research. Typically, the selection of an award nominee is conducted by an art teachers’ association. However, if an association is not in a position to complete the selection process, a nomination can be submitted directly to the CSEA/SCÉA Executive.
The award(s) will be presented at the CSEA/SCÉA national conference. Art educators in the K to 12 or the post-secondary levels can be nominated for this award. In order to be eligible for this award, the art educator must be a member of the CSEA/SCÉA. If a nominee is not currently a member, a new membership can be obtained, then the nomination submitted.

Prix provincial/territorial affilié de la SCÉA/CSEA
La Société canadienne d’éducation par l’art / Canadian Society for Education through Art (SCÉA/CSEA) entend promouvoir l’excellence au niveau de l’enseignement des arts et remet à cet effet des prix aux éducateur.trice.s en art qui atteignent l’excellence dans ce domaine.
Un éducateur.trice enart de chaque province canadienne peut recevoir le Prix d’excellence de membre provincial de la SCÉA/CSEA qui souligne l’excellence en matière d’enseignement ou de recherche dans le domaine des arts. Règle générale, ce sont les associations provinciales des éducateur.trice.s en art qui sélectionnent les candidats admissibles. Il est cependant possible de soumettre directement une candidature à l’exécutif de la SCÉA/CSEA lorsqu’une association provinciale n’est pas en mesure de mener à bien le processus de sélection.
Les prix seront remis dans le cadre de la conférence nationale de la SCÉA/CSEA. Sont admissibles les éducateur.trice.s qui enseignent de la maternelle à la 12e année ou en milieu postsecondaire. Les candidats doivent cependant être membres de la SCÉA/CSEA. Un candidat potentiel qui n’est pas membre de la SCÉA/CSEA peut le devenir avant que sa candidature ne soit posée.
