President’s Message April 2016

Dear Colleagues,

Happy Spring to you all! I hope this latest President’s Message finds you well and that 2016 has been a good year for you so far! I have many updates to share with you about a number of CSEA/SCÉA initiatives as well as acknowledgement of a number of success stories celebrating a few of our members.

New Logo & Website Design– We are very thrilled to announce that we will be launching our new CSEA/SCÉA logo and website in the next few weeks! One of the top suggestions we received at our Members’ Forum last October, in Montreal, was to revamp our identity – our logo and our website – and it’s coming!! Many thanks go out to Paul Syme, our Director of Digital Communications, who since last November, has been working in tandem with a website designer in developing a new, streamlined, and eye-catching logo and website to give our national art education organization a stronger, more visually appealing on-line presence. We hope you like our new image and look forward to hearing your feedback!

President’s March 2015 Message

Dear Colleagues,

It is with regret that I must inform you that our 2015 Symposium / Think Tank / Conference scheduled for May 1st and 2nd has been postponed until a future year.

Several reasons have contributed to the need to postpone the 2015 event. First and foremost, the costs of holding the event increased as the planning progressed. In a time of greater fiscal responsibility for everyone, the CSEA/SCÉA wants to continue to be proactive in remaining a fiscally responsible non-profit organization. Also, unfortunately, one of the organizers had to step back from the committee due to health concerns. In addition, it became evident from feedback received that the set program model would not meet the needs of all the various sectors of the membership. With all these factors in mind, and with the scheduled event only weeks away, the committee has made the difficult decision not to hold the Symposium / Think Tank / Conference at this time.

President’s August 2015 Message

I hope this message finds you all having a relaxing summer and a chance to get caught up with friends and family! If travel is in the plans, I hope it takes you to places far and wide! This is the time to reflect and rejuvenate. I hope you all will indulge in a wonderful holiday, whatever form that takes!

In this message, I would like to bring some updates from the CSEA/SCÉA front. In the coming weeks, the latest issues of our two publications will be on your doorstep. First, our Canadian Art Teacher editor, Michael Emme, has been working hard to put together an issue with contributions from our talented art education graduate students from across Canada, who presented at the 2014 Halifax conference.

President’s November 2015 Message

I would like to extend a big thank you to all of you for your continued interest in the CSEA/SCÉA, and a special thank you to those who participated in the Members’ Forum and AGM in Montreal on October 17. Your ideas and insights about the future direction of the CSEA/SCÉA are inspiring.

The executive has summarized all the comments you have given us, and will be developing a strategic plan based on your input, especially your identification of the “Top Priorities for the Coming Year”. This plan will be shared with all our contacts as soon as it is ready. The executive is energized and motivated by the enthusiasm you expressed during the forum, and look forward to being part of the next chapter in the life of the CSEA/SCÉA.
